Conversation about Pirates with a 4 year old

Don: The only ones nowadays are off the coast of Somalia.
Koa: Where's Somalia?
In Africa.
What is Africa?
A continent on the other side of the world.
What is a continent?
A large body of land.
Oh, so are we on the head?

Makoa and I saw some fun bread rolls in a bakery window - this one caught our eye!

Bedtime

First bath,
(someone needs a haircut!)

Then brush teeth
(some kids spend their lives trying to be different from one another . . . mine want to do/have everything the same!)

What we've been up to . . .

What did I ever do without a trampoline? It is the middle of winter and we still use it almost every day.
It makes Tasi have some awesome hair.

The kids laugh together.

And Makoa can do some cool tricks.


We've also been playing some indoor games and today Makoa took the camera and we had a photo shoot while playing "I'm gonna getcha." (Basically I chase Tas around and then tickle her.)

Bethany in Oz

My lovely friend Bethany came all the way from Alaska, on the other side of the globe, to visit me in Sydney! Four planes, a Chilean ash cloud, and long layovers couldn't even stand in her way of a dream trip to Australia. That crazy ash cloud may have shut down the Sydney airport and took one day away from our time together, but we had a fabulous time when she finally arrived :)

We went to see the Australian animals up close at the Featherdale Wildlife Park.
Tasiana wanted a closer look,

Makoa took videos,

And Bethany even pet the wild animals.

We posed with a Koala.

and stuck our heads through holes.

And my kids are cute :)


On Friday Bethany went on a Harley ride all around Sydney, and on Saturday we went to the city for a girl's weekend.
We climbed the Harbour Bridge,

after a manicures got dressed up for dinner,

followed by high tea at the Sydney Museum,

buying souvenirs at Circular Quay,

and the streets were closed so we could take a photo of Bethany owning the town!

After a whirlwind of a week Bethany had to once again board 3 planes to make it home for her kids' birthdays (same day different years).

Thanks so much for coming B, I had an amazing time!!
