Tasiana is 1!!
Yesterday was my baby's birthday - I CANNOT believe she is already 1! We are going to have a bigger celebration when the grandmas come to visit in a few weeks, but to celebrate we went to a beautiful new park.
We had lunch,

went for a slide,

and a swing,

had some birthday muffins with colorful icing,

the kids were adorable and happy :)

Took a family photo before ruining the outfits with watermelon juice!

Makoa played with a toy airplane, and Tasiana tried to eat hers.

It was about 75 degrees when we left the house and when we got to the car it started pouring. Perfect timing and perfect outing for the big #1!

Contest Winner!
Makoa entered a coloring contest and won!
A few weeks ago, he and I attended an event at a bookshop in Leichhardt where we got to meet the Gruffalo again, hear the story 'The Gruffalo's Child' and eat Gruffalo cake. As we were leaving all of the children were given a picture that they could color and submit to win 4 tickets to see The Gruffalo's Child on stage in April. Right when we got home Makoa spent over an hour coloring and then next day after school we turned it in.

We talked about it for a week and we went back to see if the pictures were hanging up in the shop. A very disappointed Koa learned that they weren't. He told me he really really wanted to win so he could see the play. Luckily I had already bought tickets weeks before.
Then on Saturday, while Don and Makoa were playing that second round of golf, I got a call - MAKOA WON!! We dropped off Don and Tasi and went to Leichhardt. His picture is now hanging in the children's department. (Can you tell that I am just a little proud!!!!)

And here he is with the winning picture and winning passes!

So, now I have 4 passes to see the play for next Tuesday (we didn't get to choose the date/time) and 2 passes for the following Wednesday, AND Tas is too little and too afraid of people in costumes to go . . . what are we going to do?!

Better Than Christmas
Last weekend a friend of mine forwarded me a list of all the Putt Putt places around Sydney. Makoa and I looked at all the photos and since I was taking a class on Saturday and Sunday, we promised that we could check out a new place the following Saturday. Makoa woke barely after 6, excitedly rolling all over me asking when it was going to be morning. While I was making breakfast he was running up and down the hallway (somehow Don slept through it!) counting down the hours till Mega Golf opened. We looked at the pictures again online and then FINALLY got to go!
It was an indoor place with 3 sections. The first theme was like the jungle in Indiana Jones, if your ball went into a certain spot (the mask thing we are sitting next to) on hole 2 it made steam come out.

And a light come on.
Makoa literally frolicked the entire time!

The second theme was Egypt, complete with pyramids and mummys - Don took advantage of this learning moment.

During which Tasiana helped me get my ball in!

3rd theme was an old West town, with Saloon, shooting bandits, TNT, and wanted posters.

Hole 16 - Koa got a hole in 1!

After round 1 with the 4 of us I took Tas on a walk while Don and Koa got to play again. I met them at the end and watched Koa score a free pass for making a very difficult winning hole in 1!!

Men are from Mars
Makoa - Daddy and I were talking about planets last night.
Me - If you could go to a planet which one would you go to?
Makoa - Mars.
Me - Why?
Makoa - Because I think there are lots of toys there.
Me - What about another planet, maybe Venus, would you go there?
Makoa - I think there are just shopping centres there.

First Crush
Makoa - I like Ethan's Mommy.
Me - Me too, she is so nice, isn't she?
Makoa - And she is pretty.
Me - That is sweet of you to say honey. What about her is pretty, her hair?
Makoa - Her face. Her eyes and nose and mouth. We learn with our eyes and nose and mouth and ears.
