When we got back to Sydney I purchased a $7 golf kit - not knowing that I would break my back with the stupid little plastic clubs every day for months. While we were visiting the family, Grandma Lois gave Makoa a golf set with metal handles. Needless to say Makoa LOVES his new golf clubs. Pictured below is Makoa showing his affection for his present!

On our US trip Makoa and I went to Chico as well, where I did a little research and found a mini golf course that we took Grandpa to.

Makoa is very good at giving 'directions' - I think he is instructing Grandpa on the finer points of golfing here. He had so much fun that he could hardly sleep all week and Grandma and Grandpa had to take him again before we left for Sydney!
I thought it would be fun to go in Australia as well so I found a putt putt golf course about 40 minutes away. We went after nap and Makoa was so excited about playing 'putt putt golf'. At this place I found there are 3 courses of 18 holes. After we played 36 holes I was cold and it was getting close to bedtime so we left with a very upset little boy making promises that we would go again. We told Makoa that we would go again when Daddy didn't have to work. After talking about it for 4 days Makoa told me that just he and I could go - apparently he thought we could go sooner if we didn't have to wait for Don!
The plan was to go again on Saturday. On Friday night he helped take out the garbage, vacuum and picked up all of his toys so that he would be ready for putt putt golf. I went into his room to change the heater at 10:30pm and he was still awake. Apparently too excited about his big day he couldn't relax at all. Naturally I said something like he would not feel well the next day to play if he didn't get some sleep.
You can imagine how wonderfully peaceful Saturday morning was, I am sure. At 9 I gave Makoa his Wiggles watch and told him we weren't leaving until 1-0. Every minute, even while I was in the shower, I heard 'Mommy it is 9-0-6 . . . we have to wait till 1-0 . . . Mommy now it is 9-0-7.' Our little golfer was just a little excited about another 2 rounds of miniature golf!
I remembered the camera this time to get a few action shots.

He is actually pretty good too!

And a family picture.

He was still a little sad about having to leave, but not nearly as bad as the first time, and by our third trip he was used to the drill and was totally fine. Although I do constantly hear about playing golf and watching golf from my little Makoa 'Tiger Woods" Brown.
