Bush Dance

Makoa's school is celebrating its 125th year and last night there was a Bush Dance. It is very similar to a hoedown with a BBQ, band, and petting zoo - pretty much a calf and baby llama and some poor rabbits and ducklings that were carried and passed around all night long.

I couldn't get Makoa into one of his cute button up western style shirts, but he did wear his Woody hat, and Tas had on a cheeky monkey shirt made by Auntie Niks and later Koa's hand-me-down horse jacket and farmer hat.

The band was playing Waltzing Matilda when we arrived and although there was no one else out dancing it was the first thing my kids did! Soon after the heel-toe polka started and many kids and parents participated. Makoa was my partner and Tasiana was in the middle of the circle for the entire song :)

Then Don arrived and played chase, and Makoa gave all his friends glow-stick bracelets that Auntie Fawn sent. We had a blast at our first Bush Dance!
