Good Friday

The first day of the long weekend and I have two functions today! I am such a social butterfly and love having places to go and people to see :)

First we visited our American friends, Shannon and Ryan, and their 4 year old son Ryan. Shannon was just in Hawaii and I had her buy egg dye while there because they don't sell it here. She then hunted for the lightest eggs she could find since all the grocers sell are brown ones. We definitely felt like we were having an Australian Easter, although trying to make it as American as possible! The only Easter things I could find, besides chocolate, were some craft projects. So while Shannon set up the dye, I was crafty with the boys.

The boys checking out the result of our attempt at dyeing brown eggs with American bought dye!

Shannon's mom had sent some plastic eggs (another item they don't have in Australia) for the boys. Shannon filled them with lots of fun stuff and we hid them in the courtyard downstairs. The dads brought the boys and their bags down for the Easter egg hunt! Ryan helped Koa find the last one.

After hunting the boys put them on the bench and counted each one - they were allowed 8 each.

Makoa loved finding some chocolate coins in one of the eggs.

The families!

We had a fantastic time, but had to run because Makoa and I had another social engagement at 2 (Don can handle only one function a day!) With no time for nap we went home to change (see mention of chocolate above) and to repack the bag then off to the bus. Our friend Susie (mum of Matisse and Tex) hosts an annual Good Friday party with her partner Dave. There were about 20 kids running around and lots of toys. Makoa was on surprisingly fantastic behaviour and without Don (sorry honey!) I was able to not worry about anyone and just sit and talk and eat and drink. Makoa fell asleep on the way home and I was exhausted, but it was a wonderful day!!
