This morning when I told Makoa he was going to day care he got ready quickly, wanting to get dressed, bringing me his shoes, and finding Don to say bye, then rushing to the door saying, 'Go?' When we got there he ran in with a 'Yay!' and then, 'Bye Bye Mama' and blew me a kiss - I had to steal a hug before I left! Makoa started family day care about 5 weeks ago and he LOVES it. He goes two days a week to Elsina's house, and there are four other kids for him to play with. Elsina is fantastic and I feel so lucky that we found her. Her house is just around the corner, and everyday the kids go to a playgroup and the park. Her house is all set up with toys and books and puzzles and cars and even a sandpit. She is also a vegetarian, and she loves that Makoa is too! Before starting I had a few friends who's children had a hard time settling in to their day cares, not eating or sleeping or even getting out of their strollers. I think we found a good place and I am happy that Makoa has taken it all so well too. Now I am back to work about once a week and enjoying the day to myself . . . although, a few times Don just happened to be sick on the days that Makoa was at Elsina's :) But, not matter what I have planned for my days 'off' it sure does make it easier to leave when there are not screams or tears, just a 'Bye bye Mama!'
