Laughing Kookaburra

I was stretching before my walk/run and I heard the unmistakeable call of the Kookaburra. Ok, ok, maybe I should back up - yes I was stretching, as in about to go exercising. I decided about two weeks ago to train for the Sydney Marathon this September - there are 4 different courses and I am going to try and complete the half marathon. So with 12 weeks left I am going for a 40 minute walk/run twice a week. According to my beginner training guide I should be going 3 times a week, but I figure with belly dancing, swimming, and walking and carrying Makoa around I should be good, right? Anyway, it is a real nice walk from Makoa's day care around the bay and back home . . . now, back to the Kookaburra. So, I am stretching and I hear this kind of howling laughter. It sounds almost like a chimp and a laughing hyena mixed into one, or like the howling monkeys in Costa Rica - only, I am sitting on a park bench in the middle of the city! All of this noise comes from a tiny bird, the Kookaburra:

You can't help but smile at this Australian moment :)
