Makoa has always been chatty, but lately the quantity of words he is saying is just incredible. It is probably just his age mixed with the day care and us being home together while I was sick, but he is just so interested in finding letters on walls and clothing and even the spoon (it says Baby Basics), and also in learning the names of things. I know I am bragging, but really, what is this blog for but to share how smart my little baby is!! Living far away limits how often family members get to hear him speak so I am constantly being asked what Makoa is saying, so I have made a list:
A B D G I N O P R S T U W X Y Z
all done, all gone, anemone (really weird word to be on the firsts list but there is one in the bath book), apple, away (as in put things away), baby, ball, banana, blue, book, bowl (in the mornings Don gets the bowl and Makoa the spoon), bubble (started because of the computer game Frozen-Bubble but thank goodness he also knows the other types of bubbles too), bye bye, cheese, chin, cracker, dada, do (as in dooooo the Daddy Long Legs - Wiggles song), Don, door, ear, eye, go, good, green, happy, hat, head, hello, hey, hot (mommies coffee and the oven are hot), hurry (as in I just spilled water all over the kitchen floor so hurry Mommy hurry), I don't know, jacket, juice, kick, love you, mama, moon, more, movie, no, nose, oh, one, outside, papa, play, please, poopoo, potty, raining (new word as it has been raining here lately-how sad), red, remote, shoe, shut, sock, spoon, stuck, teeth, thank you, throw, toy, tree, turn (as in it's your turn to play with a toy), turtle, two, uncle (so cute, he just learned this word after laughing at a picture of Jeff), wet (again with the rain), Where did it go?, whoa, Wii (yes, sadly this was one of the very first words), yellow, yes, yucky (as in mommy kills the yucky cockroach in the morning and the taste of chalk), yummy, Zelda (game Don plays in the evening on the Wii, they whisper it to each other while playing, all very silly).
Now that you are all impressed I guess I should be clear that other people might not be able to understand him saying ALL of these words as the sounds don’t always come out just right – sock sounds like cock, and stuck like cuck, and movie has become moomoo (but he is always consistent) – in fact, just this morning Don brought Makoa into the bathroom while I was showering so that I could translate what he was asking for! But they are definitely used quite a bit and I can hear them so I thought I should include them. And I didn’t include the words that really didn’t sound right - like whatever he says for dolphin - I am not totally nuts! But I just had to share because what is cuter than singing ‘You Are My Sunshine’ before bed and having a little boy sing happy, love you, and away . . . kinda :)
